Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is his initial championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since that period of 2023.
Success also means he has won 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.
The player's retrieving approach and regular outbursts on court had led some to question if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a decider.
Moutet rescued four initial break points in a close third set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner secured victory with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
