An individual who laced treats with sleeping medication and provided them to children at a summer camp in the region has admitted sexual crimes against two children who were nine and 10.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and an older person became sick at the facility in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a total of 17 charges when he appeared at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
The accused was held in detention prior to a further hearing on 28 November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, described Ruben's offending to the legal proceedings.
She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court the defendant had played this game with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She stated the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his family member had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "This year his stepson had suspicions about the situation, with valid cause.
"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said objects including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson contacted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She stated Ruben continued to conduct the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"The police had not arrived by that point," she added.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the minors were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the police again.
She explained the man then played the "candy game" in a area of five youngsters.
